Homeowners Insurance Reductions
What type of inspection is it?
Windstorm Mitigation:
This is a survey of the structure (exterior) and photos of your home. It requries the inspector to answer 9 questions on the Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form. Access to the attic will allow the inspector to identify the answers to several questions. Total onsite inspection time is approximately 45 min -1 hr. There is more time spent processing and researching your information (sometimes visiting the local Building Department). The form and pictures are forwarded to your insurance company on the same day. Your insurance company will review and forward the information to their underwriting department, which will then apply the reductions (1-3 weeks). This is for all homeowner's windstorm insurance policies in the State of Florida (including Citizens).
4 Point Inspection:
This is an evaluation of 4 major points, Roof, Electrical, Plumbing, and Air Conditioning / Heating (HVAC). The inspector will estimate the life cycle expectancy, in addition to the condition. Incuded but not limited to;
Electrical - Size of the service, condition of the wiring, upgrades, location of the panel (type), grounding, age of the system
Plumbing - Number of bathrooms, water & waste pipe (condition, material), shut off valves, water heater, upgrades, age
HVAC - Types, age, condition, upgrades
